Keto Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is an easy, weeknight-friendly recipe that delivers a golden, crisp, low-carb breaded chicken fillet topped with warm marinara and melted cheese. Ready in about 25 minutes, it’s a comforting Italian-inspired meal with roughly 4g net carbs per serving when prepared as directed.
Perfect for families or anyone following a low-carb or keto lifestyle, this version uses crushed pork rinds and parmesan to create a crunchy coating without traditional breadcrumbs. If you don’t have an air fryer, oven directions are included so you can still enjoy the same flavors and texture.

This recipe was inspired by an earlier sour cream and parmesan chicken variation, adapted here specifically for a crisp air fryer finish and a classic chicken parmesan presentation. It’s straightforward to assemble and relies on pantry-friendly herbs and seasonings for balanced flavor.

Ingredients for shopping list

- Chicken fillets (about 1 lb)
- 1 large egg
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- ½ cup grated Parmesan
- ½ cup crushed pork rinds (or almond flour as a substitute)
- 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup tomato sauce or low-carb marinara
- 1 cup fresh grated Parmesan (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
See the recipe card below for precise quantities and serving information.
Instructions
Cut chicken breasts into fillets if needed and season lightly with salt and pepper.

Set up two shallow bowls: one with the beaten egg, and the other with a mixture of crushed pork rinds, ½ cup grated Parmesan, parsley flakes, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Dip each fillet into the egg, then press into the pork rind mixture so it’s evenly coated. Use a fork or your fingers to press the coating on, then shake off excess and repeat with remaining fillets.

Arrange the breaded fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t touch; cook in batches if necessary. Lightly spray or brush with oil and air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 10 minutes.

Flip the fillets, spoon tomato sauce over each piece, and sprinkle with fresh grated Parmesan. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted and chicken reaches a safe internal temperature.

Remove from the air fryer, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately.

Oven Directions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease or oil a baking sheet.
- Prepare fillets as above (egg wash and coating).
- Place coated fillets on the baking sheet and bake 18–22 minutes, or until fully cooked in the center.
- Remove, flip fillets, spoon tomato sauce over each, sprinkle with fresh grated Parmesan, and return to oven 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted.
Substitutions
- Crushed pork rinds — substitute almond flour in the same amount for a different texture.
- Fresh grated Parmesan — use shredded mozzarella for a milder, stretchier topping.
Equipment
An air fryer is used for quick, extra-crispy results. If you don’t have one, the oven instructions above will work equally well.
Storage
Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or toaster oven until warmed through to preserve the coating’s texture.
