Tuesday Garden: Peonies, Candytuft, Phlox & Spring Blooms

I didn’t even notice the ant on this peony until I downloaded the photos from my camera. I was surprised to learn that ants visit peonies even before the blooms open — they’re often attracted to the nectar on the unopened buds.

Candytuft is covered in masses of sweet white flowers!

The phlox planted around my mailbox is stunning, though it spreads aggressively. Left unchecked, it would happily take over the entire bed, sending out runners and filling every available space.

Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ boasts lovely, fleshy, bright green foliage. Its texture and color make it a reliable favorite in the garden throughout the seasons.
